In an intermediate piece for connecting molded articles ofmanganese steel with carbon steel, in particular austeniticmanganese steel casting frogs with standard rails, theintermediate piece is comprised of steel from the group ofaustenitic-ferritic duplex steels having a ferrite portion of 60 wt%. The method for connecting austenitic manganese steelcastings with standard rails is characterized in that anaustenitic-ferritic intermediate piece made of duplex steelcomprising 60% ferrite is welded with the manganese steelcasting and the standard rail.
