A calculated vertical velocity sensor signal is determined from a recordedpressure sensor signal (11). A constructedvertical velocity sensor signal is determined as a linear combination of thecalculated vertical velocity sensor signal and arecorded vertical velocity sensor signal in dual-sensor seismic streamer data,using a mixture coefficient as a proportionality constant(12). An error in the upgoing pressurewavefield component is determined by propagating errors in the recordedpressure sensor signal and constructed vertical velocitysensor signal terms (14).
