Systems and methodologies are described that intelligently set a hysteresisactivation timer in a wireless communicationenvironment. In accordance with various aspects set forth herein, systemsand/or methods are provided that continuouslymonitor a data session to determine whether or not an application isexchanging data with a counterpart device, acquire indicationfrom a hysteresis activation timer of whether or not the hysteresis activationtimer is active, determine an appropriate new hysteresisactivation timer value with which to set the hysteresis activation timer, andthereafter sets the hysteresis activation timer withthe new hysteresis activation timer value.
