The invention relates to a method for characterising a biological sample by tandem mass spectrometry, comprising steps consisting in (a) precipitating the protein-containing biological material present in said sample; (b) centrifuging said sample in order to produce a pellet comprising the protein-containing biological material; (c) subjecting the pellet produced in step (b) to a gel electrophoresis in denaturing conditions; (d) subjecting all or some of the proteins of the gel produced in step (c) to a proteolyse; and (e) subjecting the peptides produced in step (d) to a tandem mass spectrometry.
