A wind turbine system (10) includes a wind turbine generator (12,) having a rotor (14) and a nacelle (18) mounted atop wind tower (20). The wind tower (20) is mounted on a central caisson (24). The wind turbine system (10) further includes a plurality of tensioned mooring lines (30) flexibly secured to the central caisson (24). The mooring lines (30) are further fixed to a plurality of anchors (34) fixed on to a sea bed. The anchors (34) are adapted to support lateral loads on the wind turbine system (10).
