The invention relates to a reaction device having stepped zones enabling highly endothermic or exothermic reactions to be carried out. The device reduces the disparities of catalytic activity between these zones thanks to a supplement of fresh or regenerated catalyst at the entrance to each reaction zone, and an integrated heat exchanger is provided. The invention also relates to a chemical conversion method that uses this device for exothermic or endothermic gas and/or liquid phase reactions and, in particular, for the oligomerization reaction of fractions C2 to C12 in order to produce a diesel fraction.
