METHOD FOR MODERNIZING THE HOUSING OF AN ELECTRIC TRACTION MOTOR FOR RAILWAY LOCOMOTIVE STOCK

The invention relates to railway transport, and more particularly to railway locomotive stock. Claimed is a method for modernizing the housing of an electric traction motor for railway locomotive stock which includes the disassembly of elements of the traction motor, wherein upon disassembly of the outside surface of the housing, lines are marked for the cutting out of fastening sites for plain axle bearings, taking into account the allowance required for machining of the contours of the cutouts, the fastening sites for plain axle bearings are cut out along the lines marked, and the contours of the cutouts are machined. Longitudinal bars are welded to the machined sites, the housing is subjected to heat treatment, the longitudinal bars for fastening the housing of rolling axle bearings are machined, and necks for the mounting of end shields are machined. If necessary, damaged elements of the housing are repaired once the longitudinal bars have been weldingly attached. Furthermore, the necks are welded on prior to the heat treatment. The invention makes it possible to use electric traction motors manufactured with plain axle bearings in standardized wheel-motor units with rolling axle bearings.
