[Problem] To provide: a blood-vessel catheter system which enables chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions to be observed, which is capable of efficiently penetrating CTO lesions, and which is sufficiently narrow to be capable of being inserted into narrow blood vessels; and a CTO-lesion penetration method in which said blood-vessel catheter system is used. [Solution] Provided is a catheter which is capable of inserting both a fibre-optic catheter and a guide wire into a single lumen. The fibre-optic catheter is inserted into the lumen, an image is referred to in order to insert the catheter (or the guide wire) into a CTO lesion, and the guide wire is subsequently inserted into the lumen to penetrate the CTO lesion.
