In order to accurately understand the state of an area to be detected even when the area to be detected is analyzed percutaneously, an ultrasound diagnosis device (1b) is provided with: a staging unit (19a) that stages the strengths of echo signals from positions in an area of interest by associating the strengths with echo strengths which are set in a plurality of stages; and a feature quantity calculating unit (21) that calculates a feature quantity, which expresses features of the area of interest, on the basis of a combination of echo strengths staged by the staging unit and present in each of the samples amongst samples exhibiting the echo strengths staged by the staging unit (19a) that exhibit a mutual prescribed positional relationship.
