The invention relates to a coking plant for the coking of coal, having a coking furnace bank (1) which comprises a multiplicity of furnaces (2) arranged adjacent to one another, and having a gas collecting line (6) arranged parallel to the coking furnace bank (1). The furnaces (2) each have a furnace chamber (8) which is closed by furnace chamber doors and which has a head-end gas chamber as primary heating chamber (9), a foot duct as secondary heating chamber (10) below the furnace chamber (8), at least one vertical duct (11) between the primary heating chamber (9) and the secondary heating chamber (10), and openings for drawing primary air into the primary heating chamber (9) and for drawing secondary air into the secondary heating chamber (10). Between the furnaces (2) and the gas collecting line (6) there are provided insulated connection lines (12) which connect the secondary heating chamber (10) of the furnaces (2) to the gas collecting line (6) and which are equipped with a throttle device for varying the exhaust-gas flow exiting the furnace (2). According to the invention, in each case one throttle flap (17), which is rotatable about an axis, as a throttle device is provided within the flow cross section of the insulated connection lines (12). The throttle flap (17) is rotatably mounted in a housing which has a temperature-resistant lining as insulation on its inner side and which is inserted in gas-tight fashion between sections of the connection line (12).
