A monitoring unit (100) determines an attribute (P) of a liquid substance flowing (F) through a dielectric conduit (110). At least one coil member (120) encircling the dielectric conduit (110) subjects the liquid substance to an electromagnetic field (B(f)), and under influence thereof measuring circuitry registers at least one impedance measure (z(f)) of the liquid substance. A processor (130) derives the attribute (P) based on the registered at least one impedance measure (z(f)).
