The unit (110) has a cylinder liner (111), and a piston (112) comprising a piston upper edge (129) and a piston lower edge (130). The piston is moved back and forth in an axial direction along a piston axis in the liner between an upper dead center (OT) and a lower dead center. A cylinder lubrication device (127) has a lubricant opening (141) that is arranged in the liner. The opening is formed between the edges in an upper dead center-position of the piston. The piston has a circulating recess in an area in which the opening is positioned in the dead center-position of the piston. An independent claim is also included for a method for supplying lubricant to a piston of a piston-cylinder-unit.
