Provided is a method for managing the operation of a repeater through a network management system (NMS) server, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a registration request for a repeater BTS interface unit (BIU); comparing an existing registered BIU registration table with the identification information of the BIU that is requested to be registered, and if information matching the identification information of the BIU that is requested to be registered is not present in the existing BIU registration table, assigning a new BIU ID to the BIU that is requested to be registered, and registering the BIU by mapping, to the assigned new BIU ID, the identification information and allocated IP information of the BIU that is requested to be registered; and if information matching any one of the identification information of the BIU that is requested to be registered is present in the existing BIU registration table, using the existing BIU ID, updating the information mapped to the existing BIU ID with the identification information and the allocated IP information of the BIU that is requested to be registered, and storing the updated information.
