Use: domestic article for massaging, washing and cleansing the skin of the face and body. Aim: to create a sponge exhibiting improved performance characteristics by virtue of maximum exploitation of the properties of loofah and enhanced ergonomic properties, and more particularly exhibiting a minimal degree of soiledness after use, which satisfies hygiene requirements and human sensibilities of touch and smell. Essence of the invention: a sponge comprising a cylinder-shaped working element, which is open at both ends and is made from loofah fruit, the tips of which are removed by crosswise cutting, wherein handles made from cord (webbing or twine) pass through the inside of the working element, from one end to the other, through two longitudinal channels and are fastened at the ends of the sponge.
