A waste water treatment method that purifies, and reuses as steam, heated waste water that is generated when recovering bitumen from an oil sand layer with an in-situ recovery method, wherein while bitumen is being extracted from a heated bitumen mixed fluid recovered by injecting high temperature steam into the oil sand layer, the separated heated waste water is recovered as treated water for which the oil content, salt content, and organic matter contained in the heated waste water is reduced or removed by undergoing membrane distillation using a hydrophobic porous membrane provided in a membrane distillation module.
