An optical fiber connection unit includes: a mechanical splice aligning and connecting optical fibers to each other by interposing the optical fibers between a half-divided element; a splice holder section holding the mechanical splice; fixed member guiding portions guiding fixed members for stopping, the fixed members for stopping being fixed to the optical fiber on both sides of the held mechanical splice; a stopper stopping each of the fixed members for stopping, the fixed member for stopping moving ahead by being guided by fixed member guiding portions; first spacer disposed in contact with one fixed member for stopping which moves ahead by being guided by one fixed member guiding portion and disposed so as to control the movement ahead by being configured to move away.
