The subject matter of the present invention relates to a plant pot (1) comprising a capacitive measuring device for measuring a moisture content of a substrate contained in the plant pot (1) and optionally a fluid reservoir (5) from which fluid can be automatically supplied to the plant pot (1) depending on the moisture content measured, wherein a temperature sensor assigned to the plant pot (1) and an electronic calculating unit for evaluating data delivered by the measuring device depending on a temperature detected by the temperature sensor are provided, wherein the supply of the fluid can be further controlled by means of the electronic calculating unit, or a detected state can be displayed via a display means. The invention also relates to a method used for this purpose.
