The present invention relates to an isolated human cell line which expresses a glycoprotein E of varicella zoster virus, and replaces cells infected with varicella zoster virus in a fluorescent antibody to membrane antigen (FAMA) technique, thereby being used for detecting the existence of an anti-varicella zoster virus antibody from a sample, and to a method for diagnosing immunity against varicella zoster virus using the same. The present invention can easily detect the existence of an antibody against varicella zoster virus without using varicella zoster virus. Thus, the present invention can safely conduct diagnosis by protecting diagnosis-related medical staffs from virus infection during diagnosis of varicella zoster. In addition, since special treatments and facilities for infectious virus treatment are not necessary, the present invention is very excellent in economic feasibility.
