A technique that reduces variation in photography opportunities through promotion of communication is provided. This photography assistance system is provided with: multiple imaging devices each having an information output unit; and an information processing device that recognizes photography subjects and photographing positions of each of the multiple imaging devices on the basis of image information received from the multiple imaging devices, said information processing device also identifying, for each photographing position, a group of imaging devices that are within a predetermined range therefrom and detecting the photography situation including the photography subjects, the photographing positions, and photographers associated with the imaging devices within the predetermined range. The information processing device outputs appropriate photography advice for the photography situation of the multiple imaging devices to a group of imaging devices within the predetermined range from a respective photographing position, and the imaging devices outputs the appropriate photography advice for the photography situation to the respective information output units.
