The method of controlling a display apparatus includes: transmitting, to a server, a request for information on a display location of channel information; receiving, from the server, the information on the display location of the channel information in response to the transmitted request; and extracting the channel information from a screen displayed by the display apparatus based on the received information on the display location of the channel information.
