Provide are a small magnetic field generation apparatus, in a guiding apparatus guiding the capsule medical device introduced in a subject, generating a magnetic field for guiding the capsule medical device by a permanent magnet and being capable of shielding the magnetic field at a desired timing, and a capsule medical device guiding system including the magnetic field generation apparatus. The guiding apparatus 20 as the magnetic field generation unit includes a plurality of permanent magnets 25a and 25b generating a magnetic field, and a magnetic field state change driving unit 252 changing relative relationship of the permanent magnets 25a and 25b to switch between a magnetic field generation state in which the permanent magnets 25a and 25b generate the guiding-magnetic field MF in an effective magnetic field region 100 and a magnetic field shielded state in which the permanent magnets 25a and 25b do not generate the guiding-magnetic field MF in the effective magnetic field region 100.
