The present invention relates to a time synchronization method for high energy efficiency in a wireless network to perform the time synchronization of sensor nodes using AC characteristics in a low power wireless network adopting a sleep mode; and a network using the same. The time synchronization method in a wireless network comprises the following steps of: (a) detecting AC voltage in a synchronization node, and outputting a time synchronization command in accordance to the voltage; and (b) receiving, by a sensor node, the time synchronization command outputted by the synchronization node, and determining an active time and sleep time control included in the time synchronization command, and turning the operating power on/off. As a result, by performing the time synchronization of the sensor nodes using AC characteristics in a low power wireless network adopting a sleep mode, the power consumption is minimized, thereby improving the accuracy of the time synchronization regardless of the installed location as well as improving energy efficiency. Also, the method can be applied to the time synchronization of base stations or nodes in a wireless network, such as a femtocell network, a wireless sensor network, a communication network between wireless objects which can use or detect AC voltage in a wireless network, such as a femtocell network wherein distributed time synchronization is intended to perform.
