One - dimensional bimodal gold nanocrystals could be successfully synthesized through CTAC, which functions as a surface stabilizer and shape - setting agent, and seed - mediated method using gold nanoparticle seeds, Ag + ions and reducing agents. The Ag + ion had a decisive influence on the production of shear gold with sharp edges when the optimum amount was applied. The length and optical properties of the synthesized gold - plated gold could be precisely controlled by changing the amount of salicylate added during the synthesis. The rod-like micelles of different shapes and strengths prepared using the CTA + -Sal - mixture aqueous solution serve as effective flexible molds or structure directing agents in the synthesis of one-dimensional nanocrystals of different lengths. The present invention shows how to control the one-dimensional gold nanocrystal structure synthesized by changing the parameters of rod-shaped micelles acting as soft molds during synthesis.
