Provided are a composite precursor represented by chemical formula 1b (xMn_3O_4-(1-x)M(OH)_2), a composite prepared therefrom, a preparing method thereof, a cathode for a lithium secondary battery including the same, and a lithium secondary battery employing the same. In chemical formula 1, 0x=0.8, and M is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Al, Mg, Zr and B. The composite precursor is a starting material used in forming a composite therefrom. Using the precursor, a composite with an improved life time property can be obtained by evenly forming the Li_2MnO_3 phase.
