The present invention provides compounds of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, which are inhibitors of the ROMK (Kir1.1) channel. The compounds may be used as diuretic and / or sodium diuretics for the treatment and prevention of medical conditions, including conditions associated with cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, heart failure, and excessive salt and water retention.
