The present invention relates to a composition for improvement of inflammatory diseases, containing an alopecurus aequalis Sobol. extract as an active component. A result of an inflammatory disease related study using the alopecurus aequalis Sobol. extract shows that by the alopecurus aequalis Sobol. extract (active concentration 100-200 g/ml) suppressing NF-B transcription activity in RAW 264.7 cells, transcription of iNOS induced by LPS and COX-2 protein and TNF- which is a pro-inflammatory cytokine, and IL-6 is effectively inhibited. Therefore, the alopecurus aequalis Sobol. extract can be an important fundamental material for action mechanism studies of inflammatory reaction via macrophage, and effectively used for prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases in the future.
