Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for extracting a trace of an ionization layer. The method includes: a step of investigating signal data with the maximum intensity among signal data displayed on an ionogram for an ionization layer; a step of determining a point where the signal data with the maximum intensity among the signal data as a first point; a step of extracting a trace to the right direction with respect to the first point as increasing the frequency of the signal data; and a step of extracting the trace to the left direction with respect to the first point as decreasing the frequency.
