The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for improving peripheral coordinate accuracy of a projection-type capacitive touch panel. The projection-type capacitive touch panel includes M sensing lines of L1 to LM (L1 and LM are peripheral portion sensing lines.) According to the method, signal intensity, sensed by sensing lines within a touch sensing range of a peripheral portion touch point, is obtained; a virtual coordinate and virtual signal intensity of a virtual sensing line are obtained; and the coordinate value is obtained by calculating a weighted average with respect to the virtual coordinate of the virtual sensing line, the virtual signal intensity, a coordinate of the sensing lines within the touch sensing range of the peripheral touch point, and signal intensity sensed by the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method and the apparatus can increase accuracy of the peripheral coordinate of the projection-type capacitive touch panel.
