The CAN network-based steel processing system with an excellent scalability of the present invention comprises: a main controller which controls a variety of work units in the steel processing system by loading data on a communication bus through a CAN communication line by using a CAN communication; and a number of work units such as a loader, a banding unit, a cutting unit, and an unloader. A DC power cable and a cable for communication are connected in parallel between the mainframes which compose the work units, and a network between the mainframes is made.
