According to an embodiment, a method to manufacture a nanoparticle includes: a first seed particle from a metal precursor by adding a reducing agent to the metal precursor and a solution containing a surfactant; a second seed particle having a crystal plane of a low Miller index from the first seed particle by reacting the first seed particle to a first growth solution containing cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide and an ascorbic acid; and a nanoparticle having a crystal plane of a high Miller index from the second seed particle by reacting the second seed particle to a second growth solution containing the cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide and the ascorbic acid.
