PREPARATION OF SIZE-CONTROLLED SILICA-ZIRCONIA COMPOSITE SOL BY SOL-GEL

The present invention provides a particle size-controlled silica-zirconia composite sol, and a method for preparing the same. The method of the present invention comprises the following steps (1)-(3): (1) adding a first hydrolysis solution to a silica precursor solution, and primarily hydrolyzing the mixture at 50 to 90C for 30 minutes to 2 hours; (2) adding a zirconia precursor solution and a second hydrolysis solution to the mixture obtained in the step (1), and secondarily hydrolyzing and condensing the resultant mixture at 50 to 90C for 1 to 24 hours; and (3) adding a third hydrolysis solution to the resultant mixture obtained in the step (2), and condensing the resultant mixture at 100 to 140C for 4 to 24 hours while removing water. The silica-zirconia composite sol of the present invention: has uniform particle size distribution and a low aggregation value; and can be maintained stable without precipitation for a long period of time.
