Provided is a device for diagnosing the malfunction of a power transmission system in a hot rolling mill. The device for diagnosing the malfunction of a power transmission system is a device for diagnosing the malfunction of a power transmission system in a hot rolling mill comprising: a rolling roll; and a power transmission system connected to one end of the rolling roll via a spindle to drive the rotation of the rolling roll. The device for diagnosing the malfunction of a power transmission system comprises: a first displacement sensor installed while being separated by a certain distance from a spindle to measure the distance from the spindle; a second displacement sensor installed to be separated by a certain distance from the spindle and to be separated by a certain angle in the circumferential direction of the spindle from the first displacement sensor and measuring the distance from the spindle; a monitoring part for obtaining the movement track of the axis of the spindle with the distance measured by the first displacement sensor as the x-axis and with the distance measured by the second displacement sensor as the y-axis as the spindle rotates; and a diagnosis part for diagnosing the malfunction of a power transmission system by comparing the movement track of the axis of the spindle, which has been obtained by the monitoring part, with a pre-stored normal reference movement track. Accordingly, the accident of a rolling mill and life loss can be prevented by diagnosing the malfunction of a power transmission system at an early stage and enabling a worker to take a proper measure.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
