The present invention relates to a porous activated carbon, a method for manufacturing the same, a supercapacitor using the activated carbon, and a method for manufacturing the same. The porous activated carbon of the present invention: has a specific surface area in a range of 2,000-4,000 m^2/g; contains a nitrogen functional group; includes a plurality of pores providing channels for introducing or discharging electrolyte ions; and exhibits high specific capacitance. According to the present invention, the supercapacitor having high specific capacitance and energy density can be manufactured by using the porous activated carbon as an electrode active material for a positive electrode and a negative electrode.
