PURPOSE: A method for controlling an overload between an SGSN and a GGSN in a wireless packet service network and a system therefor are provided to control a load of the GGSN by not requesting call setup to the GGSN which is in an overload state. CONSTITUTION: An SGSN(Serving GPRS Support Node)(130) searches a plurality of GGSN(Gateway GPRS Support Node)s(140,141,142) when the SGSN receives a packet service request from an MS(Mobile Station/RNC:Radio Network Controller)(110). The SGSN is connected to the mobile terminal. The packet service is provided from a data service network. The GGSNs are connected to the data service network. One GGSN among the GGSNs except a GGSN which is in an overload state is selected. Call setup for the packet service is requested to the selected GGSN.
