The present invention relates to a spectrum sensing method and, more specifically, to a spectrum sensing method using probabilistic distribution, which is capable of: obtaining a spectrum correlation density function of an ATSC digital broadcasting signal; and obtaining a spectrum correlation density function to detect existence of the ATSC digital broadcasting signal using the probabilistic distribution thereof. The spectrum sensing method includes: a first step of receiving an ATSC digital broadcasting RF signal to calculate a spectrum correlation density function; a second step of estimating a state variable for a pilot location; a third step of estimating probability distribution of a spectrum correlation density function vector; a fourth step of calculating a determination variable; and a fifth step of determining existence of a signal by comparing the determination variable with a threshold value. The present invention is able to provide more excellent performance than an existing algorithm, thereby improving mean detection performance between 2-3dB compared to the existing method.
