The present invention is related to a pull cord retainer of a pull cord system for emergency stepping of a conveyer, which is fixated on a frame of both sides of the conveyer at a predetermined interval in a transferring direction of the same in order to maintain a pull cord of the pull cord system. The present invention comprises: a base plate fixated on the frame; a fixated member fixated on the base plate; a movable member to form a closed section in which the pull cord is flowed with the base plate and the fixated member, and which can move between a position opening the closed section for the pull cord to flow into the inner portion of the closed section and a position closing the same for preventing the pull cord from being separated to the outside of the closed section; and an elastic member which elastically supports the movable member in the direction closing the closed section in order to place the movable member in the closed position.
