The patent specification relates to a detection device of release amounts of radioactive source terms capable of evaluating the effect of radiation practically in the radiation emergency situation of a nuclear power plant and a method thereof. The detection device of release amounts of radioactive source terms according to an embodiment of the patent specification comprises; a release amount calculation unit which calculates release amounts of radioactive source terms to evaluate the effect of radiation practically in the radiation emergency situation of a nuclear power plant; a release rate calculation unit which calculates a release rate by dividing the release amounts of the radioactive source terms; and a release amount determination unit which determines final release amounts of the radioactive source terms based on the calculated release amounts and release rate.
