The present invention relates to a system and a method for calculating an area of a rain-garden formed on an impervious surface of a target area through simulation, in order to reduce rainfall runoff, and more specifically, to a system and a method of calculating a required area of a rain-garden formed in a target area based on a runoff curve index, rainfall probability distribution, soil water-holding capacity probability distribution obtained from rainfall information, and a rainfall runoff amount in the target area. The required area of the rain-garden and plants for a city area may be effectively calculated by using the system and method according to the present invention, and an effective city plan to introduce the rain-garden may be established and applied. The system for calculating an area of a rain-garden comprises a target area setting module, a runoff curve index calculation module, a probability distribution module, and a rain-garden area analyzing module.
