A method for drying a particulate wet substance, wherein the particulate dried substance is a white mineral having a brightness Ry of at least 65%, measured in accordance with DIN 53163, the method comprising the steps of: a ) provide at least one feed stream (1) of wet particulate matter; b) provide a recirculation loop comprising at least one drying chamber (40), at least one circulation fan (41) and, at least one heat exchanger (42), wherein said at least one drying chamber (40) contains a mixing system and a mixed substance in the form of particles, at least one inlet for a supplied stream of wet substance in the form of particles, at least one inlet for superheated steam and at least one outlet for exhaust steam; c) supplying, either continuously or intermittently, said at least one feed stream (1) of wet particulate matter to a particulate mixed substance in said at least one drying chamber (40) through said at least one inlet for feed stream; d) superheated steam (6) is fed into said at least one drying chamber (40) through said at least one superheated steam inlet; e) mixed particulate matter is brought into direct contact with superheated steam inside said at least one drying chamber (40) to dry the particulate mixed substance, and releasing said steam through said at least one exhaust steam outlet (3) without separating any transportable substance in the form particles from exhaust steam
