A method for determining the concentration and particle sizes in a liquid, comprising scanning laser radiation over a certain volume of the sample, causing on the particles of the sample liquid to generate acoustic waves which are recorded by the receiver sound, while the particle concentration is determined by the number of recorded acoustic signals, and the particle size is determined by the amplitude of these signals from a particular sample volume.
