The invention relates to apparatus for investigating materials with ultrasonic waves and can be used in the control of uneven distribution of the residual stress state of the metal structure and the length of the wire when the acceptance test on the wire production. Technical tasks stated utility model are: improving processability devices of ultrasonic testing of the metal wire due to simplification of its design and use of non-contact method of entering and receiving elastic ultrasonic waves and also increase reliability of the control uneven distribution of the residual stresses and structural state of the metal along the length of wire during winding. These problems are solved by the fact that the ultrasonic testing apparatus of metal wire, comprising wire rewinding mechanism, the emitting transducer, coupled to the generator electrical probing pulses and a receiving transducer coupled to the amplifier and the recording unit, radiating and receiving transducers are formed as the electromagnetic acoustic transducers. Moreover, said electromagnetic acoustic transducers can be made I.S., and the recording unit may be configured, e.g., based on a digital oscilloscope or a digital-analog converter connected to a personal computer.
