FIELD: measurement equipment.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of non-destructive testing and diagnostics of a condition of mechanical instability and early warning about destruction of materials and items being operated under icing conditions. The method includes the installation of a flat capacitance sensor near the most stressed area of the structure, deformation of the structure coated with a layer of ice, until strips of localised deformation appear on the surface of the metal structure, generation of a signal of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) in the process of plastic deformation and damage of the ice layer, conversion of the EMR signal with the help of the capacitance sensor of EMR and its registration, at the same time as the source of EMR they use the layer of ice on the surface of the metal, along which a strip of localised deformation is spreading. The technical result is the provision of the high extent of reliability of diagnostics of the condition of mechanical instability of a metal alloy and products with the subsequent advance warning on the danger of early damage of the metal and products deformed under icing conditions.;EFFECT: invention may be used in systems of continuous contactless high-speed monitoring of the condition of a deformed metal surface under conditions of icing and diagnostics of damageability of structures from aluminium alloys of Al-Mg, Al-Cu and Al-Li systems, operated under negative temperatures.;4 dwg
