A method of disrupting a bacterial biofilm using sterile, intravenous or intracavernous glycerin

A method of preventing or inhibiting the formation of a biofilm by a bacterial population is disclosed which comprises administering sterile, intravenous, normal saline containing glycerol and amino acids. In some embodiments, the glycerin concentration in normal saline is about 3%. In some embodiments, the concentration of amino acids in normal saline is approximately 3%. In some embodiments, the intravenous solution is administered at 80 cm3 / h for 48 hours. In some embodiments, the solution is infused into the infected body cavity by intracavernous administration.
