The vehicle has two planetary gear sets including a dedicated low speed gear train (4) and a dedicated high speed gear train (5). The gear trains are driven in parallel by an internal combustion engine (1) and an electric motor (2), where the gear trains are alternately coupled through a clutch (7) to an electric generator (3), and the gear trains are parallel to a bridge (6) coupled to wheels (9) of the vehicle. The gear trains of the planetary gear sets are alternately coupled and decoupled when the generator speed equalizes the speed of a driving shaft.
