The assembly has metal plates (11, 12) including a thickness of lesser than 1.5 mm such that the metal plates are adapted to be pierced by nails to be inserted in elongate wooden pieces (9, 10) to be assembled. The metal plates are placed between the wooden pieces. The nails are inserted in the wooden pieces so that the nails pierce the wooden pieces or the metal plates. Longitudinal directions of the wooden pieces are provided parallel or perpendicular to each other. Each metal plate is formed by a sheet part. An independent claim is also included for a method for using an assembly for assembling two elongate wooded pieces at one another.
