In this method of determining a cause of loss of voltage downstream of a circuit breaker using an auxiliary device, the downstream voltage loss corresponds to an opening of the circuit breaker or a voltage drop at the input of the circuit breaker. circuit breaker below a first reference voltage value, and the circuit breaker is, in the open position, able to interrupt the flow of an electric current in an electrical connection comprising at least one electrical conductor. The auxiliary apparatus comprises at least one current sensor adapted to measure the intensity of the current flowing in a respective electrical conductor and first detection means for detecting the voltage loss downstream of the circuit breaker. The method comprises the following steps: measuring (102), by the or each current sensor, the intensity of the current flowing in the or each electrical conductor, the detection (117), via the first detection means, loss of voltage downstream of the electrical circuit breaker. The method further comprises the following step of: determining (120, 122, 124, 126, 128, 130), by the auxiliary apparatus and as a function of the intensity measured by the or each current sensor, d. a cause of the voltage loss downstream of the detected circuit breaker, said cause being preferably selected from the group consisting of: an electrical overload, a short circuit, and a voltage drop.
