The device for moving a tool facing an elongate body (35) comprises: a means for rotating the tool around the elongated body; means for driving the tool in translation; parallel to the axis of the elongate body and - a connecting means between the drive means configured to make the tool traverse a helix facing the outer surface of the elongate body. In embodiments, the connecting means comprises: - a toothed wheel (51) fixed with respect to the elongate body on which a movable toothed wheel (53) integral with an endless screw (55) engages; axis of the moving toothed wheel being rotated about the elongate body by the rotating drive means and - a support of the tool moved parallel to the axis of the elongate body by the rotation of the worm.
