The manufacturing process comprises the superposition of a fiber mat (12), having an initial thickness, and at least one polymer layer (14), one on the other and one parallel to the other. The assembly formed by the superposition of the mat (12) and the layer (14) is then heated, at a temperature greater than or equal to the melting point of the polymer forming said layer (14). The assembly formed by the superposition of the mat (12) and the layer (14) is then pressed, after which this assembly forms a skin (10) having a final thickness, said final thickness of the skin (10) being greater at 90% of said initial thickness of the mat (12).
