Zeolite adsorbents, and method of their preparation, exchanged with barium and potassium cations, for purifying or separating a gas or gas mixture, in particular as in power plant flue gas and gases less polar than carbon dioxide such as nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen, so as to remove there from the carbon dioxide. The adsorbent is zeolite - X based and the gas purification process is of the PSA or TSA type or combination of the two.
