A safety guard system is provided for use with a raised platform. The system includes one or more extension portions mountable to the platform in use and arranged to be movable relative to the platform between a storage condition and an in-use condition. Barrier means are provided on or associated with one or more of the extension portions. The barrier means are movably mounted to one or more of the extension portions to allow the barrier means to be moved between a barrier in-use position and a barrier out-of-use position.
